Geoffrey Spence, Non-Executive Director, Jersey Ports
Geoffrey Spence is a Non-Executive Director of Jersey Ports which operates the Airport and Ports in Jersey, a Non-Executive Director of a not for profit acute Hospital in Nazareth, Israel and a member of the Advisory Board of the Association of Consulting Engineers. He is also a member of the London Mayor’s Brexit Advisory panel.
He was a member of the Government’s Thames Estuary Commission from 2016-18 when he was also Global Head of Infrastructure, Resources and Energy for Lloyds Bank plc.
From 2011-16, he was Chief Executive of Infrastructure UK within HM Treasury, leading HMT’s Infrastructure Policy and Delivery. He also held the post of Senior Corporate Finance Practitioner in HM Treasury and was a member of the Cabinet Office’s Major Projects Authority Board and the Construction Leadership Council.
From 2008-10 he was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers to HM Treasury. A political appointment, he was Special Adviser to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on financial stability during the the banking crisis. He was also the Chancellor’s advisor on business and EU policy.
Previously, Geoffrey worked in investment banking for 24 year, specialising in the financing of the Utilities, Energy and Infrastructure industries and their major projects working for Morgan Grenfell & Co Ltd and Deutsche Bank AG as Head of Project and Export Finance for EMEA and Global Head of Infrastructure for HSBC Bank plc.
He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge and Campbell College, Belfast, Northern Ireland and holds an MA in History.See all Speakers
