Simon Innes, Managing Director, Goodson Associates
Simon Innes has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. He is Managing Director of Goodson Associates, a firm of consulting civil and structural engineers headquartered in Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers. Simon is a Board Member of SER Ltd, the registration body for Certifiers of Structural Design. Simon is currently Vice Chairman (Devolved Nations and SME’s) of the Association for Consulting and Engineering and has recently been Chairman of ACE Scotland and the ACE’s SME Forum.
Simon believes very strongly in the education of the youth on the importance and career opportunities of the Construction Industry, he has long been involved in delivering elements of the schools education programmes run by several bodies.
Simon considers that use of technology by the industry is central to the delivery of consultancy businesses in the future. The real value that consultants can deliver to the client are centred around the effective use and implementation of appropriate technologies.
As a civil engineer, Simon understands the need for infrastructure construction to act as the foundation stone for the rest of society. The building of Schools, Hospitals, Roads, Power Stations etc. are vital to the success of the professionals that deliver their services from these establishments.
As a principal in a Scotland based SME, Simon is passionate about the importance of the construction industry for the Scottish and Local economies. He believes the UK Construction Consultancy Industry needs to be strong and robust in the UK and European market to ensure that regional work is carried out in area by companies with a strong local base.See all Speakers
